CCSHRM 2009 Scholarship Information

Application Guidelines & Regiurements
Human Resource professionals provide important services such as attracting and retaining workers, managing benefits and compensation, providing training, and managing HR information systems just to name a few.  York County Chapter of SHRM joins the National Society for Human Resource Management in being "committed to advancing the human resource profession and the capabilities of all human resources professionals to ensure that HR is an essential and effective partner in developing and executing organizational strategy."

The YCC of SHRM will award two five hundred dollar scholarships (YCC Scholarship and the "Sons & Daughters" Scholarship) to deserving students.  The YCC Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student whose career focus is Human Resource Management.  The "Sons & Daughters" Scholarship will be awarded to a child or grandchild of a current YCC SHRM member.  Note: Students applying for the "Sons & Daughters" Scholarship are not required to major in Human Resource related studies.

The South Carolina State Council will match YCCSHRM's scholarship winner by 50%.

All awarded scholarships will be made out to the University of choice for the Scholarship winner.

All candidates must submit a portfolio that includes, but is not limited to, the following:

 York County Chapter SHRM Scholarship Application

  1. One page essay explaining why applicant deserves the scholarship or on any Human Resources related topic
  2. Documentation of completion of at least one community service project in the last two years
  3. Documentation of active participation in any organization
  4. Copy of current transcript
  5. Three letters of recommendation.  One letter must be from a professor.

Portfolio must be postmarked by May 1, 2009.  Scholarships will be awarded at the YCCSHRM Luncheon on May 21, 2009.
